Princess Ball Gown Castle Wedding InspirationToday is Women’s Day and as we celebrate women all around the world it is with great pleasure that I share with you the wedding of a very special bride and woman, Patti, who married her husband Miguel in the most stunning Spanish castle.

One of the reasons I am proud of House of Elliot is that we designed our collection to empower women to embrace their own unique style. Gorgeous bride Patti embraced her individuality by choosing to wear our best selling ‘Lottie Elliot’ vintage lace ankle boots in ivory paired with a princess style Ronald Joyce ball gown and the result is just breathtaking. Her wedding day is not only beautiful but also so incredibly unique and full of warmth and love, just like Patti herself.

I hope you enjoy reading Patti and Miguel’s wedding story and feasting your eyes on the gorgeous wedding photos taken by Click & Plum as much as I did and join me in wishing them every happiness together!

Wedding Wishes & Love as always,

So how did you meet your husband and how did he propose?

Miguel and I had spoken about getting married quite a lot in the six  months leading up to the proposal.  It turns out he had been plotting the whole time.  He used to catch up with a friend, Nate, on Thursday evenings, so he used this time to visit Vince at Hatton Garden Jewellers to pick the perfect diamond for me! Nate, the best man, was also in on it the whole time!  In the summer of 2015, we went on a family holiday, I suspected he may propose on this holiday, but I had imagined it would be during a romantic walk along the beach…  Instead, he did it after dinner one evening in front of our entire family. He said it was so that I wouldn’t be able to turn him down!  I wouldn’t have had him do it any other way, knowing that him and his family had put so much effort into pulling it off meant so much.  One of Miguel’s brothers was so relieved that I said yes, he jumped into the pool-fully clothed!

Where did you get married and who did you invite?

We actually had 2 weddings!  We were legally married at Manchester Register Office on 12 Sep 2016, followed by a Chinese banquet at Ocean Treasure Restaurant.  This was mainly for my mother, a traditional Chinese wedding with approximately 100 guests. It was an amazing day with FOUR outfit changes and we stayed in the gorgeous Gotham Hotel for our wedding night.  We then had another ceremony and reception, two weeks later on 23 Sep, at the Castillo de Arteaga in Guernika, north of Spain.  It was an intimate wedding with approximately 60 of our closest friends and family.

What was the main inspiration for your wedding?

I had always dreamt about getting married in a castle.  I couldn’t believe my luck when we found the most beautiful setting for our big day.  I really liked the vintage/rustic trend which is very popular at the moment, with a light peach theme running throughout.  The castle so was so beautiful, we really didn’t need to do much with the venue at all.

I had always imagined myself to be wearing an A-Line dress for the wedding.  I know my body shape and what would be flattering on me.  The first time I went dress shopping, I tried on a number of A-Line dresses, but they were all rather uninspiring.  However, when I went to try dresses with my sister, she jokingly asked me to try on a ballgown and I fell in love immediately.  I felt like a princess!  I ended up with a Ronald Joyce ballgown and I loved it so much, I didn’t want to take it off.  Luckily, I got to wear it twice!

What made you choose a pair of House of Elliot boots for your wedding day?

I always knew I didn’t want to wear sky high heels on my big day, but all the pretty wedding shoes had impossibly high heels.  I also LOVE boots and I would live in them if I could!  I searched for wedding boots in Pinterest and House of Elliot boots came up.  I immediately knew that I wanted them for my wedding day!  When I got in touch with House of Elliot, Nicole was so accommodating, I just knew they would be perfect!

What did you love the most about your wedding day?

I loved every single second of both weddings!  In Spain, it was so great to have all our favourite people together.  The castle really was something else; I was living a fairy tale.  The staff at the castle were amazing, everything went without a hitch.  Yamilka, the wedding planner, was amazing and she made sure everything ran smoothly, as well as ensuring I always had a full glass of sparkling Moscato!

What pearls of wisdom would you share with future brides who are planning their wedding?

A piece of advice that I was given whilst planning my wedding was to make sure I scheduled some weekends that don’t involve any wedding tasks.  The weekends we scheduled were either used to tackle unexpected wedding dramas or simply being ‘normal’.  We also made sure that we had at least one date night a week, when we could switch off from wedding planning and just enjoy each other.
