Quirky and Fun Wedding Inspiration UK Alternative Lace Wedding Shoes for Bride

Quirky Lace Wedding Shoes Emma & Craig wanted their wedding day to be a reflection of their own unique style, with vibrant colours and an intimate wedding venue where they could socialise with their guests. They chose the wonderfully quirky ‘Le Petit Chateau’ in Northumberland, a fabulous French inspired venue, full of original touches and one of the most luxurious fireplaces I have seen!

Emma had the most fabulous wedding look, elegant satin and lace, topped off with a pair of House of Elliot ‘Beatrice Elliot‘ boots of course! I love the fact that it was her husband Craig who found our boots as he didn’t feel that plain wedding shoes reflected Emma’s personality. Their wedding is full of intimate and fun touches with Emma’s own brother Matthew styling her hair and her sister in law Ruth creating the stunning wedding cake!

Michael Hope of Michael Hope Photography captured all the details and emotion of the day perfectly (it looks like an absolute blast!), and we hope you enjoy looking through some of their wedding moments as much as we did!

Thank you so much Emma & Craig for sharing your special day with us and we wish love happiness and health together.

So how did you meet your husband and how did he propose?

I first met Craig at on a college course we were doing for work. He’d worked in the same job role for the same organisation for years but I’d never seen him. When I first saw him stood by the vending machine, I made my excuses to talk to him not knowing he’d had the same idea! Then we were both that similar, it took us nearly 2 years to say how we felt, then the rest is history!

Craig proposed to me in Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Florida. He’d tricked me into trying on rings (my friend said she needed hers cleaned and I was petrified I’d scare him off if he knew we’d been trying them on in the shop!). I’ve always wanted to go to Florida so when I was tearing up with excitement in the travel agents, he just knew.

Vibrant Wedding Bouquet

Where did you get married and who did you invite?

We chose our venue very quickly. For us there was just no competition with Le Petit Chateau. We wanted somewhere sociable, where you didn’t have to go to loads of different rooms and everyone could be part of the wedding. I also wanted people to be able to stay over. Our venue had it all and is simply just stunning.

What was the main inspiration for your wedding?

We didn’t have a theme as such, we just wanted rich, vibrant colours. I like to think that neither of us are “safe and plain” Craig certainly isn’t but we’re also not eccentric. We just have our own style which is hard to describe! So we went with bright and unusual flowers, a vibrant cake and accessories that WE wanted, not what a magazine tells you to have.

Tell us about your wedding look

My dress was an ivory a line, boat neck low back dress with a bit of a train. The skirt had a bit of lace and beading from the waist but the rest was plain. The top was an illusion neckline with lace and beading. Just enough sparkle! I even bought some lace gloves of Amazon for £1 and got laughed at until I tried them on with my dress and they looked amazing!

What made you choose a pair of House of Elliot boots for your wedding day?

It was actually Craig that found my boots. He knew I couldn’t bare the traditional plain ivory court shoe so I’d started looking for something with a bit more personality. As soon as I saw my boots I knew I just had to have them. I was nervous that they wouldn’t go with my dress and got funny looks when I told people I had boots. The boots proved everyone wrong! They looked utterly amazing. I can honestly say I got more compliments and “wows” for my boots than anything else on the day. My arms even hurt the next day from holding my dress up to show people!

What did you love the most about your wedding day?

I chose to have a sax player play a version of my favourite house song and she was amazing. I kept her for the reception, it was like having an Ibiza party at my wedding! I loved having my family around me on the day. They mean the world to me and I always love having my 3 brothers in the same room (which is rare!). I got to marry my best friend, eat lots, drink lots, dance like idiots and wear the most amazing outfit I will ever wear.

Anything else you would like to add?

I would say to anyone planning their wedding, do what YOU want. Don’t listen to others. If I had, I wouldn’t have had my gloves, my hair would have been in an up do, I’d have had boring make up, my Dad wouldn’t have been there, I’d have regretted my aisle song and of course…. I’d have had bog standard boring shoes that no one would remember!
