House of Elliot Real Bride Teresa wearing Evangeline Elliot vintage lace wedding boots

Bride wearing vintage lace wedding boots One of the highlights of the day to day running of House of Elliot is speaking to our fabulous brides over the phone as I love hearing the excitement in their voice when they talk about planning their wedding.

In early February I had the pleasure of speaking to lovely bride Teresa who chose to wear a pair of our ‘Evangeline Elliot’ vintage lace wedding boots in ivory for her special day. When, several months later Teresa kindly sent me photos of her stunning and elegant wedding look, dripping in gorgeous lace and featuring her favourite colour ‘Cadbury’s Purple’, I just knew I had to share them with you.

So it is with great pleasure that I share with you the wedding of Teresa and Gee. Congratulations to you both and heartfelt thanks from all of us at House of Elliot for allowing us to feature your wedding story!

So how did you meet your husband and how did he propose?

We met in September 2002 at a country golf club, where we were introduced by a photographer friend. We got engaged in October 2015.  It was a total surprise, my partner had arranged a day at Lingfield race course to celebrate my birthday, which included a sit down meal in the Grandstand.  We had a little flutter on the horses (and won!!) the next thing I know I am being proposed to over a glass of champagne.  Of course I said yes!!!

Where did you get married and who did you invite?

We got married at St Mary’s Church, East Grinstead on 16 September 2016.  We had approx 100 guests namely family, friends and neighbours.

What was the main inspiration for your wedding?

The inspiration was one of elegance, romance and of course a bit of sparkle! Cadbury’s purple was the colour, this being my favourite colour of all time.

Tell us about what inspired your wedding look?

I tried on approx 20 dresses, but I knew I wanted a dress that was elegant, easy to wear and complimented my figure.  The dress I chose was purchased via Weddings & Special Occasions in East Grinstead. The dress was made by Brides by Harvee and was called ‘Emily’.

What made you choose a pair of House of Elliot shoes for your wedding day?

I had a feeling it would rain, and it did!  I also wanted something different,  that complimented my dress and would have the wow factor on my day.  They are so comfortable, I would recommend them to any bride.  They also come with a matching garter!

What did you love the most about your wedding day?

The day was perfect in every way, but if I had to choose walking up the isle was the biggest and proudest moment of my life, particularly seeing all my family and friends.  All eyes were on me (not something I am used to) but I enjoyed the occasion so much, the memories will be with me forever.

What pearls of wisdom would you share with future brides who are planning their wedding?

Plan well in advance. It took me 11 months, and taking time to meet suppliers was the best thing I could have done. I had an amazing team to support me with hair, make-up and of course the dress and boots. I felt fantastic on my big day and was not stressed at all (maybe a bit emotional!!)

Anything else you would like to share?

As a future bride, enjoy the planning and preparation, don’t let the stress get to you.  Talk to Nicole at the House of Elliot…I brought the boots before the dress, something you might like to think about!  I would also recommend buying a pair of slippers!
