Rustic Farm Wedding in South Africa Ane and Hennie opted for a gorgeous rustic wedding at a beautiful farm at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains, located along the Garden Route of South Africa. Filled with thoughtful details, as soon as we saw their stunning photos captured by Elmine Botha Photography we just knew we had to share them with you.

Ane, who wore our vintage ‘Lottie Elliot’ ivory lace ankle boots paired with a simple off the shoulder lace dress, was the most beautiful bride and we are absolutely thrilled to pieces to have been part of her amazing day. With so many heartfelt touches throughout and the most adorable little ‘groomsmen’ this wedding is sure to melt your heart!

We wish Ane and Henny a love filled life together and we hope you enjoy their wedding story as much as we did.

Wedding Wishes & Love,

Nicole xx

So how did you meet your husband and how did he propose?

Hennie & I met on Facebook. In the beginning I thought we would just be friends, but as soon as we met face to face, everything changed! It was love at first sight!
Hennie proposed on my dad’s farm, on a rock that had a view to die for! This is also a very special place where we keep my brother’s ashes, who died in a car accident at the age of 17. Hennie played our favourite song “a thousand years” of Christina Perri when I arrived and said that he wanted to ask me to marry him, where my brother can be present. That was so special to me.

Where did you get married and who did you invite?
We were married in George, Western Cape, South Africa at the Uitsig Wedding Venue. This is a beautiful venue with lovely scenery and amazing hosts Annemarie and Johan Meyer. We started with a guest list of about 100 people and ended up with 76 guests that attended the wedding. For us, it was perfect, and intimate, exactly what we wanted.

What was the main inspiration for your wedding?
The venue is on a farm, so we wanted to keep the theme rustic, stylish and elegant. We used hessian runners and the only flowers that we used in round and square glass bowls were King Proteas and Desert roses. Each guest also received a wooden under plate as a gift from us to take home. We had three long tables with strings of antique light bulbs hanging over each table at various lengths, this created a lovely mood for the evening!

Tell us about your wedding look
The style that I was looking for as a bride was simple yet elegant. I chose my dress from the ‘Modeca Collection‘ which was perfect! Off the shoulders, with lace and a bit of bling. I wore my hair loose and with some natural curls.

What made you choose a pair of House of Elliot boots for your wedding day?
I wanted cowboy boots to suit the farm style, but once I tried them on they weren’t quite right with my dress.  I started to google lace boots and after looking at various different sites, I arrived at House of Elliot’s website! I fell in love with their ‘Lottie Elliot’ lace boots immediately and just had to have them! With the amazing help of Nicole at House of Elliot I could get my own peace of boot heaven!

What pearls of wisdom would you share with future brides who are planning their wedding?
Never settle for less, even if you have to budget carefully, do what you dreamt of since you were a little girl! Its not about keeping your guests happy, if you are happy and having a good time, your guests will enjoy it as well!
Don’t focus too much on the little things, people tend to not even see the small things that you might have worked on night after night! Enjoy every single minute, breathe and take it all in! Months of planning is over in a few hours (to you it will feel like minutes ).
Be sure that you have a good photographer who can capture your moments that will become memories and consider having a “trash the dress” photoshoot. It is a different informal setting, but truly worth it!
